N. Henry Gellert was a pioneer in the design of integrated
control systems for ventilated potato storage. Mr. Gellert entered Yale where he majored in
Economics. He graduated in 1937 with a B.A. and went to work for the Central
Fuel Company in Chicago where he worked as a manager of Sales Promotion. In
1939 he took a job as a pipeline inspector and heating estimator in Greenville,
MI, then LeMars, IA. He became manager of the gas company in Independence,
Iowa. A year later he was transferred to Lexington, NC. In the fall of 1945 he moved to Seattle to
become Manager of Distribution and Utilization of the Seattle Gas Company. In 1956 he moved to Spokane to be president of
the Spokane Natural Gas Company and in February 1959 he moved his family to
Boise, Idaho. He was president of The Gellert Company until his retirement in
1992. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Exchange Club and served on the
board of the Boise Philharmonic. He was a life member of ASHRAE, the American
Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers.
