This oak carving of a singing bird is a beautiful antique piece from the 1900's, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship.
The intricate details carved in the wood shows a bird - possibly a blackbird, singing in the tree!
The relief caving is of very high quality.

Looking at the records, the house where the item was carved for was built by John Hutchinson, of Paisley.  Charles Rennie MacKintoch was one of Mr Hutchinson's apprentices.  This may all reflect upon the quality of the workmanship

I believe it was removed from the house in around 1960's during renovations.
It has been painted at one point, and then this has been removed and a frame has been built around it so that the item can be hung up on the wall.

The 9th picture will highlight another of the relief carvings, while the 10th photographs will show the kind of environment that the carving was in.
