is recognized for developing and popularizing the technique of ‘perspective
views’ or oblique projection, the idea of representing three-dimensional objects
in a two-dimensional medium. This method helped improve mapmaking and
architectural designs offering better details on landscapes and cities.
This 1625 printing of Hondius’s instruction on perspectives
includes 30 pages of instructional text along with 43 engraved figures of
perspective art complete with geometric labeling for clearer understanding of
the art.
