NGC 1972-S proof Jefferson nickel with a cud as the base of Jefferson's bust. The cud, also known as a "major die break", occurred when a piece of the die adjoining the coin's rim broke and fell away from the die.  Proof coins are generally rare with cuds. PF64 with light white toning.
