1977-S 5c Proof Jefferson Nickel on 1977-S Roosevelt 10c Double-Denomination NGC PF66 Cameo

NGC 1977-S proof Jefferson nickel double-denomination struck on a 1977-S Roosevelt dime. The coin shows the dime design under the nickel, and also it has a reeded edge. It is the weight and metal of a dime as well.    Dramatic in appearance, with much of the dime's design visible on the 5c's reverse. The word "LIBERTY" can be seen above the Monticello design, and a "white" image of Roosevelt's head across the building as well. On the 5c's obverse, much of the outer lettering can be seen fairly well, with "DIME" visible in the 3 o'clock area, and "STATES OF" in front of Jefferson's face.    The error occurred when a 1977-S proof 10c was fed into a press that was stirking 1977-S proof nickels, and was struck. As a result, the coin is a "15c"!   A very scarce double-denomination, with an estimate of 10-15 proof nickel on dime double-denominations known.    NGC PF66 Cameo, with white, problem-free surfaces. A beautiful example.
