Antique Large IRON BRIGE, Creamware Tankard or Mug, c. 1800 - 1820. This large mug has an early creamware body and an early applied handle. This mug has a hand colored black transfer scene of the Iron Bridge in London, which was made in 1793 and opened in 1796. The title below the transfer reads, "An Wast View of the IRON BRIDGE over the river wear. Near Sunderland. Foundation stone laid by R. BURDON ESQ. M. P.. - Sept. 24, 1793. Height 100 Feet. Span 236 feet." This was manufactured in the Staffordshire district of England to commemorate the building of the iron bridge.
