The Great Persecution Deluxe Box Set Ancient Roman AE Bronze Diocletian & Others

The final and most severe of the ten persecutions faced by the early Church was instigated by Diocletian, who held a relatively extended and prosperous rule in the late third century. Despite the period being famously known as the Diocletianic Persecution, Christianity experienced tolerance for most of Diocletian's reign, witnessing a surge in new converts to the faith. The turning point occurred when Diocletian, prompted by his subordinates Galerius and Maximian, who governed the Eastern Empire within the Tetrarchy, directed hostilities towards Christians. Notably, the persecutions persisted for seven years even after Diocletian's abdication. Thousands of Christians endured martyrdom during this tumultuous period, and their sacrifice bore fruit. Within a generation, Constantine the Great would declare Christianity as the official state religion of the Roman Empire.
