This amazingly complete AT&T PC6300 system is an IBM PC clone with two floppy drives, a solid-state bootable hard disk, an AT&T keyboard, an AT&T monitor, two documentation binders, the factory original floppy disks - everything is in very-good-to-excellent cosmetic condition and fully functional. The system has been restored, serviced, cleaned and tested.

The AT&T PC-6300 is actually an Olivetti M24 manufactured in Italy by Olivetti and distributed in North America by AT&T. The PC6300 is an early IBM PC clone which was praised for being one of the best IBM-PC clones ever.

The AT&T PC6300 is a computer which was manufactured in the early eighties and is highly compatible with the IBM PC of the time and twice as fast as the IBM. It is truly hardware and software compatible with the IBM PC. Back then, all "PC compatible" systems were not exactly 100% compatible... so, there were two true tests to check if a system was really IBM PC compatible. These being (1) able to run Lotus 1-2-3 and (2) being able to run the Microsoft Flight Simulator….the M-24/PC-6300 was capable of running both tests with flying colors. But, in addition to its excellent compatibility, the Olivetti M24 offered much more than the IBM PC: built-in serial RS232c and parallel Centronics interfaces, a more complete keyboard, additional graphic resolutions (640 x 400) and 7 free expansion slots (compared to the 3 offered by the IBM PC). Even the CPU of the M24 was a true 16 bits 8086 processor with a 16 bits data bus compared to the IBM 8088's 8-bit bus. It was equipped with 128k of RAM and could be expanded to 256k or 640k by adding memory directly onboard. This unit comes fully upgraded to 640KB. As an option, it was also possible to connect up to two 10 Mb hard disks (one internal and one external). This unit comes with two 5.25" floppy drives and an XT-IDE Deluxe made by Blue-Lava Systems. This is a bootable, contemporary, electronic, hard disk interface hosting a drive emulator which uses a CF memory card (included) for storage. The hard disk interface card can also be used to interface with a standard elctro-mechanical IDE hard disk (not included) – both the “CF” hard disk and the IDE disk can be used simultaneously.  The PC boots perfectly from either the electronic hard disk or from the included MS-DOS floppies.

The Olivetti M24 was sold with a green or a yellow phosphorus 12" monochrome monitor, or with a color monitor. This particular unit comes with the green monochrome monitor. This unit also comes with the original keyboard. The keyboard is complete with no missing or broken keycaps/keys. It is clean and fully functional.

The AT&T PC6300/Olivetti M24 was the first computer to be fully compatible with the IBM PC and to offer more features than the original PC while also being less expensive.

This system is in great cosmetic and functional condition. It includes the computer upgraded to 640KB of RAM with two 5.25" floppy drives, an electronic hard disk consisting of a (contemporary) hard disk controller card,  a bootable CF memory card for storage, the video controller card, the keyboard, the original power cord, the green phosphorous monitor, the VERY RARE factory-original system floppies and two binders with the original system documentation. Note: The floppies have not been all tested to boot or be readable; however I'll provide a known good boot floppy disk.

The computer has been disassembled and cleaned. It is in excellent cosmetic condition for its age with barely any corrosion! The problematic clock battery has been removed (as, when left stored for many years, it tended to leak and damage the printed circuit board and the electronics). Both floppy drives have been cleaned and serviced – they both function perfectly, reading, writing and formatting floppies. The keyboard has been cleaned and tested- all keys function as intended. The system boots without any issues from either the floppy drive or the CF hard disk.

Despite this computer having been extensively tested and found to be fully functional, it IS 40 years old technology and as such, there is no guarantee offered, or implied, for continued functioning. This lot is being sold as-is with no returns accepted.

This is a great opportunity to acquire a collectible, fully functional and highly compatible IBM PC clone. The PC6300 is actually even rarer than the original IBM PC.

This lot will be shipped insured and tracked using a seller selected shipping service.
