An attractive antique desk inkwell and pen rest.

Art Deco in design, this has a square base with recess for pen(s) and a fixed lidded inkwell complete with clear glass liner.  The base has an inserted blue Lapis Lazuli border with a small 'Made in England' mark on the back.  The underside of the base looks like shagreen.

The lid hinge is made from hallmarked silver - the hallmark is H...S in an oblong rectangle (the screw goes straight through the middle of the makers mark).  There is the lion passant and leopard's head for London.  The date mark looks like an 'i' which I think is for 1924 - this tallies with the style of the piece.

Is very heavy for its size.

In good antique condition but there is grazing/ chipping to some edges as you would expect of an item 100 years old - see pictures - and a little play in the inkwell lid.  Overall, though, a lovely example of Art Deco.
