In August 1874, HMS Challenger took a dredging from 155 fathoms off Raine Island, Queensland, Australia.
The sample formed part of the J. T. Norman bequest, he being a famous Victorian mounter.

The sample is a general strew mounted in Canada Balsam on a standard 1" x 3" slide. The slide has clipped corners
and ground bevelled edges and is nice to hold.

The sample is rich in foraminifera of many different species. There are also a few radiolaria in the sample.
