My friend's mother passed away in 2014. He gave me some of her matted original photographs.

This matted photograph was one of her own and was part of her estate.

Condition: The photograph and mat are in excellent, brand-new condition.

They have been stored sealed in plastic for the years since her passing,

and are perfectly preserved. I do not notice any discoloration due to age.

The mounting is slightly off-center.

I believe the photograph to be 5" x 7". 

(I did not open the plastic covering or the remove the mat 

to measure the edges of the photo which are concealed behind the mat.)

The mat measures 8" x 10".

The deceased artist's name was Sandra Shortall.

I do not believe she ever received much fame or recognition for her work, 

(she should have), but she was prolific 

and studied as both a painter and a hobbyist photographer.

I am not sure exactly when this photo was taken. 

My guess is that it was in the early 2010s — 

could have been earlier or later than that.

To the best of my knowledge this photograph was taken on the outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada.

However the artist did enjoy travel to the surrounding western states so it may have been taken

in California or elsewhere.

I am unsure what species of bird is pictured but it is quite distinctive 

and interesting looking. 

The bird appears to be standing and gazing out over a body of water.

This photograph and mat are sealed in a protective clear poly/ plastic bag

and have been neatly stored away since her passing.
