DESCRIPTION: beautiful book at one time...Hardcover book, 200 years old  covered with calf, partial leather pieces held onto the spine w/ scotch tape (done long ago)...Greek musical instruments under the scotch tape. Pasted end pages have seen better days, marked, and look as if used for years. All 416 pages have browned/tanned on all page edges, there are stains, and pages were at one time in a humid atmosphere, bearing signs of such stain and foxing. Now the pages are dry, almost brittle.

SUMMARY:  The slender plot fills out a gap in Homer's Odyssey, recounting the educational travels of Telemachus, son of Ulysses, accompanied by his tutor, Mentor, who is revealed at the end of the story to be Minerva, goddess of wisdom, in disguise. With this story in particular, there is the message of world peace, and the brotherhood of man. An ideal of simplicity and relative equality, denouncing war, luxury, and selfishness, self importance, proclaims the necessity of altruism.
