French Bronze Figure of Jeanne d'Arc
Mid-19th Century, After a model by Marie Christine d'Orleans (French 1813-1839)
Having a reddish-brown patina.
Height: Almost 9 1/2" (14 cm)
- Princess Marie Christine d'Orleans was the daughter of King Louis Philippe of France. After her death at the age of 25, many copies of this bronze, her most famous, were created.
Here we have a fine Bronze of the Patron Saint of France, Joan of Arc. However, you can see, It is old, and as such presents itself with a few issues. You can see in the photos the patina is scuffed in areas, plus I feel the sword is not correct, this one being a little too small. Her scabbard is also missing. The piece is quite heavy.
