This is such a unique piece. It’s very small and probably only fit a couple coins in it. It looks to be quite old. I believe it is leather but it’s rather thin- possibly calf or sheep skin. It has signs of wear, dark spots, cracks, and creases.. etc. also the clasp doesn’t seem to close completely. It has a small gap. Please see all photos for condition details.
