Figured Opepe Guitar Top Set 001

Opepe is a fantastic hardwood originating from Africa. Superb tight and dense grain, and looks like liquid gold once oiled or lacquered! These sets have been cut from a hand selected slab for its superb figure. Each set has a beautiful and highly chatoyant waterfall figure running through which really comes to life once finished. The figure is amazingly reflective and has an almost holographic quality.

Opepe is very hard and fantastic to work with. It takes finish fantastically well and even gives a very high shine from sanding alone. It is such a beautiful wood that its a bit of a mystery as to why it isn't seen in guitar and bass making more regularly!

Images show all sets both dry & natural, and wetted down with Naphtha to show true colour and figure (Naphtha is a mineral spirit that evaporates almost instantly, and doesn't colour, stain or absorb into the wood. It helps to show how the wood will look once oiled or lacquered).
