Japanese Officer Saber Samurai Katana Sword Folded Steel Blade Rosewood Scabbard
Guntō
Guntō (軍刀, military sword) is a Japanese sword produced for use by the Japanese army and navy after the end of the samurai era in 1868. In the following era (Meiji period 1868–1912), samurai armour, weapons and ideals were gradually replaced with Western-influenced uniforms, weapons and tactics. Japan developed a conscription military in 1872 and the samurai lost the status they had held for hundreds of years as the protectors of Japan. The transition from hand-made blades to machined-assisted creations was steadily hastening. Early in the production of guntō swords, craftsmanship and artistic additions continued, but fell into heavy decline following Japan-wide increases in mass production. Thus, guntō swords became the standard in the new military, transitioning the swords worn by the samurai class to an advancing battlefield.
The blade of this sword is made of Damascus folded steel百炼花纹钢. It is folded forged by 11 times, and 2048 layers of patterns(Jihada) are formed on the surface of the blade. The high-performance blade has very good toughness and does not deform when bent at 90 degrees. The hardness is as high as 55. Cutting the wire does not hurt the blade.
It can be used in battle or for display. We would highly recommend it as a gift. Anyone would be thrilled to receive a gorgeous sword as a gift!

FOLDED STEEL 百炼花纹钢
This means that the carbon steel is folded by 11 times to produce 2048 layers. The higher quantity of layers provides more unique and mystical hada patterns, which defines and displays the craftsman’s experience and knowledge of traditional metallurgy passed down from generation to generation. Only the utmost skilled bladesmiths (Toushyo) and polishers (Togi-shi) can bring out the beauty and life from the Shinsakuto live blade. During the forging process, all of the slags and impurities of the steel are burned off and folded forged to an uncompromised strength with an sharp cutting edge. The final carbon content is 1% and the hardness is an impressive HRC 55 on the Rockwell Scale. This high quality blade can easily cut through tatami straw mats or bamboo for Tameshigiri or Batto-do use.
