This is an advertising clay pipe and tin pipe protector that was used to protect the fragile clay pipes dating from the 1860's and earlier. It is in excellent condition and measures 6.75" long. It is hinged and closes securely. It is embossed on top "Compliments of Frank Jones Brewing Co." and reads on front "Frank Jones Portsmouth Ales." The clay pipe is clearly embossed with "T D" on the bowl and "Scotland" & "Dougal" on the stem. It was found amongst my great, great grandfather's belongings, who lived in Portsmouth New Hampshire all of his life.
