Description

The world's first practical variable-wing fighter-bomber The F-111 Aardvark was the world's first practical variable-wing aircraft, introduced in the late 1960s. In order to reduce development and operational costs, the U.S. Air Force and Navy decided to use a common aircraft, and Type A for the Air Force and Type B for the Navy were developed in parallel, but Type B was canceled by the Navy. In the end, only the Type A was adopted by the Air Force as a fighter-bomber. The F-111, which had excellent flight range, was capable of supersonic low-altitude attacks, and had the ability to use precision-guided bombs, was used in the Gulf War and achieved great results in ground attack missions. An electronic warfare version, the EF-111 Raven, also entered service in the 1980s. This book explains the F-111/EF-111, which was operated by the air forces of the United States and Australia and has already retired from active duty, from a multifaceted perspective, including its mechanism, development history, history of deployment and operation, and combat records.
