Antique Pewter Hot Water Dish, Lion Rampant Over Crown Mark, London England, c. 1795. This early hot water dish is marked with an early rampant lion over a crown mark, dating to the end of the 18th Century. The hot water dish has a flat rim with a deep dish to hold the water. It also has a hinged opening to pour the boiling water into that opens and closes. The plate has well struck touch marks withearly rampant lion over a crown mark maker's mark. There is a second mark below this that reads, "SUPERFINE HARDMETAL". On the other side of the back that is an impressed corwn " X" above and impressed "LONDON" within a scroll below that. Some of these marks can be found in "OLD PEWTER, ITS MAKERS AND MARKS", PAGE 384, #6039. This is an obscure mark that dates to 1795. Very nice 18th Century English pewter hot water dish is offered here with no reserve and a "Buy It Now". DIMENSIONS: The hot water dish is 15/16" H. x 9 3/8" Dia.
