Antique Pewter Hot Water Dish, Lion Rampant Over Crown Mark, London England, c. 1795. This early hot water dish is marked with an early rampant lion over a crown mark, dating to the end of the 18th Century. The hot water dish has a flat rim with a deep dish to hold the water. It also has a hinged opening to pour the boiling water into that opens and closes. The plate has well struck touch marks withearly rampant lion over a crown mark maker's mark. There is a second mark below this that reads, "SUPERFINE HARDMETAL". On the other side of the back that is an impressed corwn " X" above and impressed "LONDON" within a scroll below that. Some of these marks can be found in "OLD PEWTER, ITS MAKERS AND MARKS", PAGE 384, #6039. This is an obscure mark that dates to 1795.

CONDITION: The condition is very good with some wear and dentinging, but no real damage. For the age of about two hundred twenty five years old this is very good condition!
