ENGRAVED STERLING SILVER SMOKES CASE CARNELIAN CABOCHON PUSH-BUTTON
early 1920s product of Watrous Manufacturing Company (Wallingford, Connecticut)


Bench-crafted by a fine American silversmith, this remarkable antique cigarette case exudes elegance.  Deep concave cushion shape - conforming comfortably with breast or back pocket.  

Opens on a stout 12-knuckle hinge via oval carnelian cabochon to a spacious interior with double spring bars.  Back side is engine-turned and gilded.  Shaped and pierced bar hallmarked with logo of Watrous "STERLING" and 47.

Condition of this century old case is remarkable, as is the quality of exuberant hand engraving.
