You are buying the black Delrin door handle bushing. It fits Volkswagen Vanagons from 1985 to 1992 with the short handle. (80-84 has a long handle). With this bushing in place you will have extra support for the handle. You will remove the rubber gasket if it has not dry-rotted and fallen off by now and install this solid bushing. Yes the kids hang on it an people pull out on it. Your handle has a better chance of surviving if it has the bushing behind it to keep it centered and supported.

This bushing is made of Delrin. A plastic bearing material stronger than nylon, abs or pvc. Custom made with tighter fit to work better than the original. Not available anywhere else, custom made one at a time, hand fitted to a Vanagon door. Check behind your handle, do you have your gasket? The gasket offers no support. Handles are expensive and getting harder to find. Each bushing is made slightly larger for more support, tighter fit and long life. It should never wear out! Easy to install. If you have replaced the door handle before, then this should be simple for you.

There are 2 types of handles from 1985 to 1992. Let me know which one you have. 1985 to 1989 looks similar to the 80-84 handle, but shorter. The 1990 to 1992 handle may have a round flange at the pivot point making the handle about 1 1/2 inches wide where it meets the door (maroon door picture) . Even if you have a 1986 Vanagon, you may have a used handle from a 1991. I have no way of knowing which handle you have, so let me know or shipping will be delayed. I do not want to send the wrong design but the not round will ship out the next day and it will work, just not look right. See pictures below. The round version bushing is not pictured.
