This nostalgic scene of days-gone-by is entitled "After School" by renowned artist Randy Souders. This print is personally hand autographed by the artist (NOT by an 'autopen' or other mechanical device).
The setting is the inside of a little one-room schoolhouse. By the title and time on the old Regulator wall clock, one presumes that school is out for the day... except for one little stinker who is becoming even more acquainted with one of the four corners in the classroom.
Look closely and you'll see a host of school day memories. Details include the teachers desk complete with school bell, flowers, books, inkwell, an apple and a variety of confiscated items (sling-shot, baseball, etc). Behind her desk is a wastebasket, American flag, portrait of George Washington, pencil sharpener, calendar, a running border demonstrating proper penmanship, framed mottoes that proclaim "Knowledge is power" ... "God Bless America" and more.
The students desks also display nostalgic memories such as inkwells, Big Chief tablet, a chalk slate, books and box of Crayons, a paper airplane... there are even initials carved into the desk. Just past the old pot-bellied stove and coal scuttle the far wall reveals a chalk board (complete with writing, chalk and eraser), roll-up geography maps, and examples of student artworks displayed either side of a portrait of "Honest Abe Lincoln."
As with all his work, you'll want to look for the artists' trademark "kitty cat." This print will be the perfect addition to any traditional, nostalgic Americana collection!
