This is well recognised in commercial machines as fabric/cogged belts are increasingly replacing rubber and derivatives. 1) Where price is the dominant issue standard rubber is the only option and this has a number of negative consequences: They do not last or retain their shape or work as well as the Neoprene/Chloroprene alternatives, they have less resistance to brushroll jamming and can pose a fire risk. Because of such inherent problems members of the public experiencing the disappointment so caused may well not purchase from the same supplier again - whether this is a retail shop, repair engineer or the web.

2) There was a strong demand from dealers for an equivalent or even better product than the original belt but with a good saving on cost and ease of purchase.
