Clock originally came with a battery installed. That battery may still be in your clock when you receive it. Many have leaked by now so you may need to clean the battery compartment with a cotton swab and a baking soda solution. I’ve done a few and it really isn’t a big project but I don’t have the time so you will be cleaning your own if needed.
