The actual Leaves of the foil will be what you will see on your nail as the pattern/leaves

is sitting on a Transparent/clear Background

This means if you wish to paint your nails, then put on the foil you WILL see the colour of your varnish
through the foil as only the Leaf will cover the nail

If nail varnish is not used you will see the nail through the foil, only seeing the leaves on your nail

The nail foil will completely cover your nail

unless you have extra wide nails 
or extra long length nails

Directions - a quick guide

Preparation

Carefully manicure your nails
Push cuticles back gently
Make sure your nails are clean

Application

Select the size that fits your nail
Peel the sticker away from the backing sheet
Place the rounded edge next to your cuticle - but not over the cuticle 
You can gently pull the sticker back away from the nail to re position
Smooth the nail sticker over your nail until wrinkle free
Pull over the tip, use a nail file and file downwards at the tip to cut the foil

You can put a coat of nail varnish over the foil but it really is not necessary
Putting the nail varnish around the tip will prevent the foil from peeling away

Removal

Peel off - or use nail varnish remover
