If you have hunted or shot rifles on a range for any amount of time, you probably have encountered a time or two when your scope has become loose, or turned in it’s rings. Many times it’s only a matter of tightening to secure the scope. Often it’s because either it has loosened up from shooting over time, or been bumped, or the scope installed incorrectly. Most people don’t realize the importance of the scope rings on the precision of their expensive scope. When installed if the screws are to loose, then yes the scope will turn. However, if those screws in the rings are tightened just a little too much, in order to secure the scope, they can actually bend the sight tube and cause a curvature that will affect the accuracy.

Having the correct rings for the specific size scope and also for the desired placement of the scope above your rifle is important too.

In some cases you may require that the scope sit higher above the rifle, or then again closer to the top of the rifle. You may need an extended front on the scope rings.
