These beautiful ancient glass burgundy mixed with black and white stripped  Trade Wind beads were produced in India and throughout SE Asia from 250 BC to 1200 AD. They followed the Chinese silk trade routes and were traded into East Java before 600 AD where they were buried and, subsequently, found. These beads are quite rare as it is difficult to find Trade Wind beads in this burgundy color, which is way less common than the usual colors.  The beads were originally burgundy or black and white stripped and, while buried in the ground for a long time under the right conditions, some of the beads developed some eggshell-white and iridescent patina. The graduated strand is 25" long.
