Glidden Pottery, Alfred, NY   1940-1957    Glidden Pottery was the American equivalent of the Chinese Song Dynasty (960-1279) people's ware known as Cizhou ware.   One of the most interesting tidbits about Glidden Pottery is that seconds made up the inventory of the first merchandise offered by a company we’ve all come to know, Pottery Barn.

Here is a square ceramic tray with a mix of satiny glazes in pinks and greens.  The top edge appears to be hand formed and there are 2 'creases' in the corners.  This piece is decorative and functional.  Signed:   Glidden 107.   Great condition and measures 8  1/2" x 8 1/2" x 1 3/4" tall.
