The Ripon Demon.

This is one of our unique and exclusive designs from our collection of hand crafted reproduction carvings which are taken directly from an original medieval Cathedral carving. We pride ourselves at Oakapple Designs as having permission to take moulds directly from the medieval carvings found upon the misericords and choir stalls from within the Cathedrals and Churches in the UK. Our moulds and production techniques capture and reproduce all the fine detail from the original carvings to produce a very high-quality piece with all the authenticity from the original carving.

Taken from the late medieval carvings 1490 - 1495 from within the choir stalls of Ripon Cathedral. This magnificent and outstanding carving is known as the Ripon Demon, unlike most of the carvings we have reproduced from within the Cathedral that belong to the Misericords this gem of a find is hidden away on the arm rests in between two Misericord seats. The Mythical creature is a type of Demon, it's purpose is to ward off evil and to protect the occupants within the Cathedral during the long medieval services. It is a stunning carving of a mythical creature that has remained in perfect condition and that the reproduction has captured all the fine detail that the master craftsmen put in to this piece of work over 500 years ago.
