OTHER: The Japanese Larch is a coniferous tree that is native to Japan. It has soft fuzzy needles that measure 1 1/2" long. The needles turn bright yellow then orange before dropping in the fall. Its bark is reddish in color, & the new shoots are bright red in winter. The pine cones of the Japanese Larch start out green & turn brown as they mature. They measure 1 - 1 1/2" long, & typically stay on the tree for quite a while. Birds & other woodland critters like squirrels enjoy picking the seeds out of the cones to eat. This Larch is grown as an ornamental, & is often found in parks. It is also grown for its tough timber that is uséd for construction. They make great little bonsai trees too!
