Minolta Maxxum/Sony Alpha

 100-300mm APO f/4.5-5.6

Telephoto Zoom Lens

Mint Condition

You are bidding on a very nice, gently used Maxxum 100-300mm APO f/4.5-5.6 zoom lens in mint condition. (S/N 216046xx).

This particular lens has pristine glass. No scratches, marks or blemishes to the glass surfaces or fungus inside and the aperture blades are clean and snappy.

Cosmetically, the exterior of the lens is unmarked. The rubberized zoom and focus rings rotate smoothly, are clean and also look new, as does the lens mount.  I am at a loss to describe any flaw. Even the hood and caps look great.

APO corrected glass elements set this lens apart from the the rest of the pack when it comes to image quality. Most 300mm zooms get a little soft at the long end but this lens is razor sharp throughout its range. There is nothing else like it at this price point and this (and the "D" version) is a lens I always recommend to customers when they are looking for a 300mm telephoto. You just can't beat the image quality for the price.

Beyond this lens is the 100-400/5.6-6.3 APO ($500), the new Sony 70-300 G ($950) or a vintage Minolta 300/4 APO ($1000) so as far as price and performance go, you’ll be very happy with this lens.

Original hood and caps included.

Here are a few pics of killer whales that I took with this lens on Flickr:

Minolta engineers employed a “double tele-zoom system” in the construction of this lens, resulting in an incredibly short and light lens with a 3 to 1 focal length range. Also included is a “Focus Hold” button on the lens barrel, particularly useful at longer focal lengths.

This lens provides for an incredible optical reach, with 3x zoom at 300mm. It is perfect for sports, animal and landscape photography.

This lens is for the Alpha Mount and will require an adapter for use with an E Mount camera.
