This unusually detailed map of Salem, Massachusetts in 1851 was
originally created by H. N. McIntyre in 20 pieces, mounted on a heavy
muslin fabric to be folded like a modern road map. Each piece was
individually scanned and electronically assembled to make the final
product. It shows the footprint of most of the structures in Salem at
the time with the name of the property owner handwritten next to it.
Adorned with images of Salem landmarks contemporary to the time. This is
a unique and fascinating glimpse into 1851 Salem. Available now in different sizes and on various media. Note that in smaller sizes handwritten text may be difficult to read.
