This is an old Grey and White Telephone Wire handmade basket from the Zulu Tribe of South Africa. This basket called"Imbenge" is traditionally used to cover clay beer pots that are now made from telephone cable. The Zulu people believe that the Imbenge lend dignity to a home. Sets of beer pots are traditionally given by a bride to her in-laws during the marriage ceremony.  This basket would be wonderful in your home or to give as a gift.
