Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia sissoo )

Indigenous to West India, also known as shesham wood. The tree is an evergreen and grows to heights of 50-70’ and up to 3’ in diameter.

Properties: - Our Indian Rosewood is a beautiful golden brown with darker and lighter contrasting grain lines. Being a true Rosewood, a wonderful fragrance is emitted with cutting. It is a very stable wood and also as one of the softest rosewoods it is very easy to work with hand or power tools.

Uses: Indian Rosewood is used for furniture, high end turning, carving and it’s tonal qualities make it a great choice for musical instruments.

All slabs are skip dressed, not finished sanded. We do offer surfacing, sanding and finishing options, please contact us for more information and pricing.

All measurements are approximate. We kiln dry all our slabs in order to make them as stable as possible. Other lumber companies only air dry their slabs, which can cause the wood to contract, warp, and split after it's installed.
