Iditarod-Cancer Poster "Give a Hand" (#1 of 3) to Benefit Cancer Research

Hands tell it all

Proceeds  donated automatically to national cancer societies

11 x 17" poster of some of the most famous "Hands of the iditarod"

This series of posters is designed to show the spirit and determination of Iditarod mushers through the toughest challenge of their lives. The same goes for cancer patients.
And the battered hands of some of the most famous Iditarod mushers -- some missing fingers -- symbolize triumph over conditions that cause most people to throw in the towel.

Pictured are the hands of Lance Mackey, Jeff King, Mitch Seavey, Dee Dee Jonrowe, Martin Buser, Rick Swenson, Hans Gatt, and Jim Lanier.

Printed on durable card stock paper this is the first poster (see the "Aurora -- Guiding Light" poster here) and the third poster "Take Along Paws" here). Created by photographer Ron Levy of Alaska, who has been photographing the race since the mid-1980s. Ron's images of Alaska and other social causes have appeared in magazines, corporate publications, billboards, TV and other media worldwide.

After my mother died of cancer in 2004, I wanted to see how I could motivate others to spread the hope and keep up the fight. People have survived from all kinds of "terminal" illnesses. There are also many people struggling with unseen illnesses (mental, emotional, financial) who would really appreciate a boost from someone who cares.
