They have passed the manufacturer recommended Expiry date hence selling as "For Parts Not Working". We have cracked a few from different cartons and had the same results with them generally lasting 12 hours+ indoors as pictured in my office on my desk. Glow sticks will break if excessive force is used when bending to activate. Once removed from all packaging activation is done simply by bending of the light stick until the vile within cracks to begin the chemical reaction then give it a quick shake to mix chemicals.
