You are bidding upon Variations of Ex
MOD / British Army Ground to Air Panel Marker Sets.
They have come from MOD/Army as
surplus to their requirements. Some are modern types and some are vintage
types.
They are used so will all have signs of
use e.g. dirt, marks/stains, possible small holes etc… condition in line with
typical field use apart from those marked as new as they are still in packaging & or bag.
My apologies but I am colour blind
so have found it very difficult to differ between the Yellow, Orange & Red
colours so I have tried my best to describe them correctly and have had someone
else look at them to double check my own opinion.
These Panel Marker
Kits are attached to tanks, trucks, rucksacks and just about anything that
needs to be identified from the air, to include those in need of rescue. The
Signal Panels, or Signal Panel Marker, is often laid out on the ground to
identify troop positions to friendly aircraft, or to identify where help is
needed. Used as per the one attached to
vehicle in the listing photographs.
The vintage style kits each consist of
2no panels. The vintage kits panels are a cotton/cloth type of material.
The more modern style kits generally consist of a
single panel although some are still two separate panels which can be overturned to present the other face which has the
other colour on. These modern panel kits are manufactured from a Plastic Nylon
type of material.
Some of them have the carry bags some
do not.
Some of the colours will be faded a
little through exposure to the sun but they are used items.
The modern panel kits each measure
approx. 180 x 60cm (71” x 24”) in size whilst the vintage panel kits measure
approx. 174 x 62cm (68" x 24")
The panels have eyelets and tie
downs/ropes to allow for tying down when perhaps helicopters are landing etc…
No pegs are included within this sale
which are sometimes used to weigh/tie the panels down to keep from getting
taken away with the wind just the panel markers. The modern panels typically
have small pockets which allow things to be inserted to weigh it down instead
of have separate pegs.
Believe they are still very serviceable
bits of kit.
