A vintage gold tone engine turned metal KIGU cigarette case (made for smaller cigarettes than are produced nowadays, but perhaps this might make a lipstick holder or holder for small items). The clasp works crisply and the hinge is structurally sound. The KIGU name is stamped on the inside just below the rim and is very difficult to photograph.

The case measures just under 3in in length and is just over 1in at its deepest. Believed to date from the 1950s or a little later. Weighs almost 53g.

Kigu of London was founded in 1939 manufactured compacts for which it was famous for as well as a small range of Kigu jewellery. They also produced enameled pill boxes, folding mirrors, combs, clocks and other handbag type accessories. It ceased to produce these goods during World War 2 so that it could concentrate on the war effort, commencing production of the accessories etc shortly after the the end of WW2.

We are not experts: we just enjoy collecting things. We do try to do as much research as we can on the bits and pieces that we find, and try to give as much information on our items as possible.
