Surrounds are a critical element of speaker performance. The surround not only affects the bass parameters of a speaker it also absorbs and reflects various cone vibrations throughout the frequency spectrum. Further, the surround often determines the response of a speaker to peak signals. Serious speaker designers put much effort and science into the specifics of each particular surround. The type of material, treatment, thickness profile, curvature, angle of attachment and the exact method of attachment all come into play. There are as many variations of surrounds as there are speaker brands and generally they are not interchangeable. That's why at Audiodog's you will only get parts that meet the specifications were specifically designed for your speaker and not something that merely fits.
