CONTROL LINE CLIPS

This item consists of a pair of control line clips for control line flying. Clips allow the control line and handle to be disconnected from one model (not while flying of course) and attached to another. The usual application is to hook up another airplane after the first one has been re-kitted.  Once in a while, after a great landing (great landings allow the airplane to be used again) the pilot may voluntarily decide to fly a different model.

As a kid, I made clips out of fishing tackle, but they are not as solid as these clips that are specifically engineered for control line flying. If you pull on these, something will break or bend before the clips will unhook. Fishing tackle clips can break in flight. I have a fond memory of my beautiful flying wing screwing itself into my dad’s rhubarb patch.

The clips are 0.85 inches (21 mm) long by 0.2 inches (5 mm) wide. They are black anodized high tensile strength steel. The nominal wire size is 0.06 inches (1.5 mm) diameter. They can be used with wire or Dacron lead outs and lines for ½ A applications.
