Sony Alpha

100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens

(SAL100M28)

Sony’s Best Macro Lens

Mint Condition

Here is a lens I don’t come across too often, especially complete and in such fine condition. This new release Sony 100mm macro lens is a real classic – heavy duty build, fantastic optics and true 1:1 image reproduction, plus the modern styling of the new Sony line up. New at $749 US, it’s a better deal here on eBay.

This lens is not for Sony E mount without an adapter.

I’d categorize the lens as being in mint condition.   (S/N 02274xx). It is in superb cosmetic and optical condition - I am unable to detect any wear whatsoever.

The grip is clean and shows no wear. The stainless mount is unmarked and focus limiter switch and focus hold button perform as they should. The hood and caps look new.

Most importantly, the optics are flawless. Crystal clear glass, no fungus/haze, no blemishes or scratches, nada.

The aperture is oil free and snappy. Importantly, the focus action on this lens is smooth and easy.

If you are looking for a macro lens and want something new with digital optical coatings, the reliability inherent in buying new vs. vintage, but don’t want the “new” list price, you can do no better.

The lens comes with both original caps and hood in nice condition.

This lens has always been regarded as one of Minolta’s sharpest offerings – not great for portraits, as it is terribly unforgiving in its resolution…but for macro, where you want sharpness and detail, this lens delivers. A variable aperture from f/2.8 to f/32 gives maximum depth of field control and a focus limiter speeds focus.

I say “Minolta”, because the optical design goes back to the days of Minolta’s top notch engineers. Sony didn’t mess with that optical formula, but they did update the styling and lens coatings.

On Dyxum.com, the lens scores 4.80 out of 5. Comments include “sharp”, “nice size”, “excellent bokeh”, “good AF speed” etc. Negative commentary is non-existent outside of the retail pricing.

The Fine Print!

All auction items tested and inspected prior to listing. Furthermore, your purchase will arrive very clean and well packed.

Equipment Grading:

The grading of equipment is very subjective, but I try to estimate condition conservatively. The equipment I list is previously owned, and even the best cared for equipment can show some light signs of use. For that reason, 99% of the time, the highest I will grade an item is “near mint”. Generally, I list equipment that I would be happy to own myself, and I’m picky about my gear. .

All photos are of the actual item you are bidding on. I do not use ‘stock’ photos.

If you have any questions regarding an item or auction, please email me.

Payment:

Payment is due immediately.

Shipping:

Shipping is through Canada Post’s air and ground parcel service and is generally very reliable. Canadian packages include tracking and $100 CAD insurance.

Expensive items include tracking and full insurance.

If you live in a country where the mail system is not reliable, I  may insist you upgrade and purchase tracking.

Combined Shipping:

I do combine shipping. Please contact me for an item specific combined shipping rate for items purchased in my Ebay Store.

Returns:

If you are not satisfied with your item because you feel it has been grossly misrepresented, please contact me via email so that we can come to a mutually agreeable solution to the issue. Do not file a claim with eBay unless you are unhappy with my attempts to reconcile the situation. I will accept returned merchandise if we have agreed that this is the course to take. Your satisfaction with the item is my primary concern.

Feedback:

Once your item has arrived and you are happy with it, please leave appropriate feedback. I will leave positive feedback as well once I have seen that everything is in order and you are satisfied. If you are not happy, please contact me so we can work it out rather than “duke” it out in the Feedback section! I strive for 5 star feedback. If you feel you should leave less, please contact me so I have an opportunity to address/fix the issue.
