The motor was completely disassembled. The armature was washed in solvent, tested for shorts to ground, tested on a growler for open windings, dipped in varnish and baked. then the commutator was turned in the lathe & then the mica was undercut. It was then tested with a meg-ohm meter. The fields were removed from the field housing and washed in solvent. the insulation was inspected and repaired as needed, then they were also dipped & baked & ohm tested. The field housing was bead blasted and painted. all new insulation was installed in the housing and the terminal insulators replaced with new. The brass hardware was replaced as needed. New bearings were installed on the armature & in the rear end cap. The brush holder was cleaned & checked for structural integrity and re-riveted as necessary. All New brushes & springs were installed in the holder. The motor was tested for proper operation with a current generator & ampere draw on initial startup & continuous operation was noted. At this point if there would have been any anomalies the motor would have been opened up & the process would have been repeated until it was right. There is no documentation or certifications with this motor.
