The US Navy in WW2 issued the rugged 7" blade Mk. 2 fighting knife to sailors, Seabees, and UDT men, and it quickly became known simply as the "KA-BAR". The first leather scabbard for the Mk. 2 was "U.S.N." marked at the throat, and produced by the famous Boyt. This US Navy WW2 MK. 2 KA-BAR FIGHTING KNIFE BOYT LEATHER SCABBARD is in fair condition, with a complete separation across the top, moderate tearing and cracking to the upper belt hanger, some scratching at the lower front belt hanger, heavy scuffing to the front body, some missing stitching along the lower right side, some scattered scuffing at back, moderate verdigris patina to the side staples, missing the handle retention strap, and with moderate overall drying, darkening, and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the scabbard is in fair shape, with no other damage to the tough brown leather construction. Most interestingly, it's "U.S.N" stamped at the front throat, sports the classic brass staples and brownish cotton stitching down the sides, and is marked at the upper front belt hanger with its maker and date, "BOYT / -43-" (1943). An honest example of a rare, original US Navy WW2 MK. 2 KA-BAR FIGHTING KNIFE BOYT LEATHER SCABBARD. No knife included. Now celebrating over 15 years on eBay.
