Up for your consideration are  a pair of Antique Chinese  hand-carved Temple Corbels featuring stylized characters.

These old architectural pieces have a black lacquer finish.

They measure approximately 15" x 22 " x 4" each.

Each corbel showcases a great wood openwork carving featuring a dynamic Chinese character, and, from the details of their clothes and weapons, they are likely celestial guardians.

Each figure sits atop of a mythical creature, possibly a dragon.

Originally they were at the entrance of a temple; today this pair could bring style and grace to any home or room, perhaps in a living room on a sideboard behind a couch or in an office on a bookshelf.

These corbels are in good  antique condition.

There is wear, however, to the lacquer finish and one was repaired in two places and one is missing a small section.

The wood is dry and splitting in some areas

Please see photos as they are part of the description.
