This is a hobbyist series meter that is sold without having gone through the full restoration process of the RMT professional series meters. That said, this is a professional quality sensitive survey meter and not an ion chamber like the old yellow Civil Defense units you commonly see on eBay; the CDV-715 and CDV-717. This unit is built for everyday use in nuclear plants, laboratories, hospitals, and navy ships and is in excellent working condition unlike many of the old 1950's counters you might also see. Unlike many meters you see on eBay, meters I sell that are guaranteed to work.

The Ludlum Model 2 survey meter is a small count rate meter for detection and measurement of alpha, beta, gamma, and x-ray radiation. The Model 2 is essentially a Model 3 with only 3 scales as opposed to the Model 3's 4 scales. This is done to make the meter more compatible with Geiger Mueller detectors as the Model 3's top scale is unusable with a GM tube detector. These meters are a standard for doing low level contamination surveys and can be used primarily with GM detectors. The probe clip on the handle is the correct clip for either the Ludlum 44-9 Pancake Detector or the 44-6 or 44-38 Thin Wall Detectors.

The Model 2 meters available for sale are early model units and are generally well cared for and required a minimum of service to return it to full functionality. The meter shown is typical of the meters available. These units are offered for sale without having been fully restored but are guaranteed to be fully functional. Operations completed on each meter includes:

• Meter case is cleaned to remove all old stickers, tape and magic marker marks.
• Battery contacts are cleaned as needed to permit proper operations.
• Detector connector is converted to BNC to ensure maximum compatibility with available GM detectors.
• Meter is calibrated with a pulser on all scales to allow attachment to any GM detector.
• High voltage is set to 900 volts compatible to nearly all GM detectors.
• The meter is checked for overall functionality and correct operation.

With some touch-up painting, you will have a fully functional nice looking meter. The unit is sold with a money back warranty as to not be dead on arrival so you can buy with confidence.
