Some of his works were commissioned for presentation as gifts of gratitude to foreign nationals. He was born in 1927 and some of his works are featured in a book entitled, "Undiscovered Art from the Korean War (1950-1953) Explorations in the Collection of Chester and Wanda Chang, Asian Cultural History Program | Smithsonian Institution." Hoe Won had begun his art schooling in 1948, becoming an art professor and continued his  artwork  into the late 1980's. While some of his work is more muted, this  artist is known for his vibrant watercolors and this painting is of particular expression of both color and detail, a very collectible piece of art.
