2.) Details regarding the 3M Scotchcal 8518 glossy overlaminate - PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MATERIAL HAS PREVIOUSLY ONLY BEEN AVAILABLE TO THE PROFESSIONAL VEHICLE WRAP INDUSTRY! We're now bringing it to you in an affordable and easy-to-use format for your small business or crafting needs!

Not only is this material the best in the industry at providing superior durability and longevity when applied to your artwork, but it also provides a beautiful glossy "paint-like" finish.

When paired with our glossy polypropylene, this 2mil cast laminate will help your ink last at least three times longer due to its excellent ultraviolet resistance and will give your artwork beautiful and photo-realistic vibrancy.

PLEASE NOTE: This is PROFESSIONAL material which requires a cold roll laminator for application for the smoothest and best results. MANUAL APPLICATION IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

The laminate works well with both cast and calendered vinyls. This material can easily be used with personal craft cutting machines such as Cricut or Cameo as well as professional-grade cutters like Roland or Graphtec.

There are a number of alternative uses for laminate, as well - cut a piece the exact size of your laptop's mousepad to protect it from your skin's oils, use it as a cell phone screen protector, or protect your children's precious artwork and even your wedding photos. You can also protect a freshly-painted or finished surface (think furniture, etc.).

Details regarding the glossy polypropylene - This unique material is EXTREMELY reflective, bright white, and offers incredibly high-resolution photo-realistic results. The inkjet coating on this product provides exceptional ink saturation.

PLEASE NOTE THAT POLYPROPYLENE HAS NOT BEEN AVAILABLE FOR PERSONAL DESKTOP AND HIGH-END MID-SIZE WIDE FORMAT PRINTERS UNTIL NOW! This product is entirely new to this market. You will be using a product previously only available in the commercial printing industry!

Please read on and watch the video below to find out more about this substrate;

- Polypropylene is a plastic-based material which offers tremendous durability for indoor usage and outdoor usage based on end-user overlamination choice. Please understand this material is best suited for applying to flatter surfaces as it is less flexible than traditional vinyl.

- If you have an aqueous (dye- or pigment-based) inkjet printer, you can use this material. If you're unsure what type of ink your printer uses, please check the manufacturer's website or utilize Google to find out.

- At 7.5mil in thickness (6.5mil without the liner), this material is very easy to cut with any vinyl cutter from personal craft machines like Cricut or Cameo to professional-grade machines such as Rolland and Graphtec.

- This substrate and its adhesive are both waterproof. The material also dries quickly and is tear-resistant.

- This material has a clear liner! That means once you print, cut, and weed your artwork, you'll be able to test the position of your decal before adhering it to its final destination. That's a valuable advantage to using this material over other vinyls and films which typically have opaque liners.

Application tips -

- Be sure to thoroughly clean the surface where you'd like your graphic to be applied with alcohol, acetone, or similar solvents. Soap and water are not acceptable for surface preparation of graphical products. All oils must be removed from the substrate before application. This will ensure a proper bond between the substrates.

- After applying overlaminate, you will want to apply transfer tape to help move your artwork to its final destination.

- Please be aware that you will likely have to increase the cutting force on your plotter. While this is a thin material, it is more dense than vinyl. Also consider contacting the manufacturer of your cutter to see what blade is recommended for cutting higher density substrates.

Be very careful when weeding this material as it can crease. As stated above, it is less flexible than traditional vinyl.
