For sale is my 1964 Mini Cooper. I have been restoring this car for over 3 years and it isn't really finished, but the remainder of the things to do relate to rally specific items which some may not want.

The car was rebuilt from the ground up. every nut and bolt is new. The body was bead blasted and painted in its original colour of Dusk Blue and Nurberg white. This car is a real Australia made Cooper (one of probably a little over 1000  made). There was very little rust in the car, just a small amount along the seams. No panels were replaced, the floor is original and very solid. I have purposely kept the patina of the body as I planned to rally it and not show it.

The original 998cc engine has been rebuilt with all new components. It has been bored 20th and runs original camshaft, crank and rods. It also runs the original head (restored), gearbox, gearbox ratio's, with all new bearings and seals. It is running a DCOE40 weber carburetor with electric fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator

The brakes have been upgraded to Cooper S, with Hi-Lo adjusters and new shockers. I have fitted a rear brake balance adjuster to compensate for the larger fron brakes. Every part of the dry suspension is new.

It has an original (period) half cage alloy roll bar and a full period works Cooper rally dash. The wiring loom is new with additional fuses and relays to cope with the load of addition driving lights (which I have still to install).

I have fitted non standard leather sports seat, but have used the original front seat mounts and added rear mounts.

The car has only traveled a few K's since its completion. The engine is yet to be fully run in, and there is still some sorting to do. I will be finishing the car over the next few months by fitting spot/fog lamps, rear spot light and a sump guard. Fitting are in the car for racing harnesses if required.

All the items added to the car have been done in such a way as to be easily reversed. I have the original, restored SU's, and the rally dash can be removed leaving an original Cooper dash.

This is a very original Australian Cooper, sold new in Melbourne, with its original engine and gearbox. Its not a show queen but is very desirable as a true example of what the Cooper was designed for.

The original chassis plate read
TYPE:  YKA2S1
CAR No: 3497

The car number is stamped on the firewall above the Master Cylinders.

I have a genuine reason for selling this car, something I never thought I would do. Would consider an interesting trade.

I have probably missed a few things but i am happy to answer any questions and the car is available for inspection.
