A traditional hand made Pewter Tankard. These heavy gauge tankards are both cast and finished by hand by skilled craftsmen. The moulds are still produced in the Medieval Pewter way today.
Pewter is an alloy of Tin (90%+) antimony and copper and has been used for making drinking vessels since the time of the Pharaohs. Pewter is a beautiful material which almost has a life of its own. In hand made pewter you can almost see a grain from the ancient moulds still used to form these tankards Pewter also ages wonderfully, the bright surface dulls down over the years into a soft warm grey.
