The Joseph Pollak Corporation was established in 1909 in Boston, MA to
supply electrical switches to the fledgling automotive industry. Buy
1930 Pollak was the main supplier of switches to the Ford Motor
Company. Since its founding days Pollak has supplied switches to all of
the major American automobile and heavy truck manufactures. In 1988
Pollak was acquired by the Stoneridge Company. In 1992 Stoneridge
acquired the Transportation Electronics Division of General Instruments
located in El Paso, TX and Juarez, Mexico. In 1992 Stoneridge acquired
the power door lock actuator business unit from Kelsey-Hayes. In 1998
the Company acquired Hi-Stat Manufacturing Co., Inc. a leading supplier
of vehicle sensor and switch products. In 2004 a joint venture was
established with the Minda Group based in New Delhi, India one of
India's major automotive suppliers where this switch was manufactured
until late in 2014. In 2005 the Company established a new subsidiary in
Suzhou, China, for the manufacture of sensors, switches, electronic
instrumentation and other related electromechanical products for the
automotive and commercial vehicle markets. A new state of the art die
casting and assembly plant was opened in Taiwan in 2014 where this
switch is now being manufactured.
